WORKSHOP
Music Making and Meditation Workshop
This workshop is held over 3 consecutive Thursday afternoons.
Between Walks 1 and 2, go on a 20-minute Walk to put into practice some of the learnings from Walk 1 - make notes if you wish!
You'll have a notepad and pen to write down your observations and thoughts. Mobile phones and tablets will be switched off - observational skills using your own senses will be of the greatest value and remain with you for far longer.
Week 1
You will be gently guided on an observational and circular journey of around 45 minutes. Walking in nature allows our senses to become 'tuned in' within the surroundings thus helping to 'zone out' artificial sounds.
You'll become aware and encouraged to listen to birdsongs, the trees, and the weather, tuning in to nature's rhythmical sounds.
Encouraged to observe nature's offerings of what could be termed as percussive sounds, the rustling of the leaves, the sound of the wings of a bird in flight....

Week 2
Your observational walk will begin with a slightly shorter Walk as you are more accustomed to your surroundings. Thin how those sounds around you could become a hand-held percussive musical instrument. For example, two pieces of a fallen branch or two small pebbles. Each of these examples when tapped together, would make great pieces of percussion. If you wish, you may bring your mobile phone to take less than 10 photographs for reference, and when asked, I will record around 30 seconds or less as a taster and to jog your memory.
Week 3
The making or adapting of an instrument.
For your own pleasure and benefit, it is suggested that you take a minimum of 20 minutes of personal study in between each week of the Workshop to reflect and help resonate the learning within the body, mind and soul to realise your full potential.
